FY: I can’t get enough of both the view and the lighting in this Penthouse. What are some of your favourite features of this property?
Although this penthouse has all the luxuries that you would expect of a premium apartment offering, we have been careful to ensure it feels like a home in the sky.
Features like the lift that opens directly into the reception foyer, the light airy expansive living areas that blend seamlessly, the booth seating for casual dining and the four expansive balconies that allow you to entertain and meander to capture the best of Melbourne from morning to night are probably my most favourite highlights.
It’s the kind of place that you enjoy and use every inch of.
I also love that every time I look outside the windows there is something new and incredible to see, whether it is hot air balloons at sunrise, incredible sunsets, the occasional fireworks it really is a stunning perspective on a wonderful city.
FY: How did you approach the interior design of this Penthouse?
From an interior perspective we have kept the palette very natural, classic, airy yet luxurious.
It was our desire to not follow fickle apartment interior trends, we were very considerate about creating a space that felt contemporary yet timeless, meshing furniture that has a clean and modern sensibility with a traditional edge.
An example of this is the Euro Luce Sky Garden dome light that sits above the booth seating in our casual dining area. To me it feels old worldly on the inside of the light but modern and clean on the exterior.
We have also used Cole and Sons wallpaper in the office and principal bedroom to instantaneously transport you to a chic Parisian apartment. It creates a warm and soulful depth, yet it still feels fresh and in keeping with a modern penthouse space.
It was always our hope that we would create a homely feel in a boutique building versus an austere and soulless space.
Penthouse living is a low maintenance, secure and prestigious lifestyle offering and given we love to travel both locally and internationally the neutral palette has allowed us to showcase through our soft furnishings so much of who we are and what we love. The space has the flexibility for anyone to create their own exciting story.
FY: Obviously you love entertaining. With its designer kitchen, open concept, and killer views of the Melbourne skyline, the space is perfect for hosting.
This is undoubtedly a great entertainer!! Picture entertaining your friends and family with drinks around the Italian stone kitchen bench, BBQ’s on the private terrace, cheese and wine as the sunsets on the city balcony, it really is the best place to entertain and be entertained.
We have also hosted countless formal dinner parties overlooking the incredible city views with private chefs utilizing the second kitchen and of course unforgettable New Year’s Eve parties with one of the best, most uninterrupted views of the Melbourne skyline.
We have kept the spaces open so that our guests can blend seamlessly and effortlessly from one area to another.
FY: Aside from entertaining, what would you say defines the lifestyle of The Penthouse Port Melbourne?
One of the most special components of this apartment offering is the lifestyle elements that surround it.
There is convenient access to cafes, salons, gyms, supermarkets, coffee and takeaway shops on Bay Street.
We have also loved morning walks to the beach to start our day and meditative beach strolls at sunset.
There is convenient access to transport to the CBD, Crown and freeways. We are also close to the botanical gardens, shrine and schools.
Further to this, the Atlantis Building is a boutique offering as far as apartment buildings go. There is a real sense of community and care within the building, a neighborly yet private offering.
I often hear people who live in the area say, once you are in the bubble you will never want to leave … I guess they are right as we are an example of this with 19 amazing years in the Atlantis Building!
