This Medieval Villa is a Luxury Farmstead in the Marche, One of Italy’s Hidden Gems

This property is listed with Lionard Luxury Real Estate. The price is disclosed upon application with the agency

The Marche is a hilly region bordered by Tuscany and Umbria spanning 1000 km on the Adriatic coast. Dotted with medieval villages and boasting pristine beaches, the region is much undiscovered by foreign tourists—although it is a hot spot for Italians to holiday in August.

The property features 4 buildings which flank a lovely internal courtyard with an Italian-style garden: A magnificent, colourful villa, a guest house, and two additional structures provide over 32,000 sq ft of living space.

The main villa dates back to the year 1000, and was tastefully restored and modernized in the 1990s. Beautiful period details are seen throughout the villa, notably in the frescoed ceilings, originating between the 12th and 19th centuries. The  floors are tiled with this region's travertine marble and a bronze statue made by Florentine artist William Xerra stands in the entry hall.

Spanning 21 acres, the property includes a lovely swimming pool featuring tile mosaics, surrounded by an English-style lawn and gardens. A lovely private chapel with original furnishings connects the villa to the guest house.

The entire complex is surrounded by terraced gardens with an abundance of Mediterranean plants: palms, cycas, Medicean lemon trees, orange and tangerine trees, and a lovely rose garden on an arbour.

A 1400 tree olive grove on the grounds is dotted with regional cypresses. This luxury farmstead is a truly magnificent Italian estate.
