Over the centuries, the castle underwent numerous transformations, each adding layers of history and style to its structure, such as the significant renovations during the Renaissance under Sforza Monaldeschi.
The artistic touches of the same masters who worked on Orvieto Cathedral and Siena’s cityscape are evident in the inner courtyard, frescoed rooms, and monumental fireplace.
It was further radically redesigned in 1880 by Count Edoardo Cahen d'Anvers, who hired architect Giuseppe Partini and renowned gardeners Henri and Achille Duchêne.
The Renaissance garden, a masterpiece of design, includes geometric hedges, a serene fountain, and meticulously arranged flower beds, blending nature and art in perfect harmony.
