Georgian Country House Near the Northumberland Heritage Coastline
The present-day Georgian manor house was built in the 17th century, although the earliest records of Eshott Hall date back to 1310.
Mentioned in Nicholas Pevsner records, the property was enlarged and improved in the late 19th century by Emerson Bainbridge (founder of the Newcastle based, first department store in the world), who transformed Eshott Hall into one of the most elegant houses in Northumberland.
The 12,511 sq. ft house features fine period detailing throughout, including marble fireplaces, exquisite decorative plasterwork and cornicing.
It was Bainbridge’s great-grandson who carried out extensive restoration works to the property, before it was sold in 2009.
Operated as a successful country house hotel, this Grade II listed Georgian Hall, steeped in history and resplendent with period features, offers a unique opportunity to revert the property into an exceptional private residence.
In total, Eshott Hall offers 11 grand bedrooms in the principal house, along with a further 15 bedrooms in the converted stables and a cottage.
Nestled in 37 acres of grounds featuring ancient woodland, mature gardens, and a Victorian walled garden, the property is located in the heart of the rolling Northumbrian countryside, set between the towns of Morpeth and Alnwick, and just minutes away from Northumberland’s heritage coastline.
