Elegant Venetian Villa in the Veneto Region of Italy

Elegant Venetian Villa in the Veneto Region of Italy

The Italian villa is set in nearly 25 acres of grounds, located in the small town of Isola Vicentina in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy near the city of Vincenza, the home of the 16th-century architect Andrea Palladio.

The Venetian villa was built 1827-1831 to the designs of the brilliant-minded Isabella Velo, a Countess through her marriage in 1805 to the Vicenza nobleman Giulio Scroffa.

Isabella, also called Bellina, was widely considered one of the most influential women in Vicenza, and she personally followed the progress of the villa and grounds.

The Countess studied Andrea Palladio’s four books of architecture and also corresponded with her brother, Girolamo Egidio, on its design.

He also contributed to the villa with fragments of oriental and African marbles from the excavations of the Roman Baths, in addition to columns which stand in the villa’s gardens.

Inspired by the siblings' experiences visiting the European courts, the Italian villa was designed with a sense of innovation combined with a historic flair, featuring frescoed ceilings and walls with reproductions typical of the period, combined with large bright windows and open layouts.

Sadly the siblings did not survive to see the villa completed in 1831, and it was finished by Count Giulio Scroffa.

The villa has been modernised over by its subsequent owners and offers heating, modern bathrooms, and a functional kitchen.

The property offers a total of 10 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms across the villa, an adjacent guest house, and a 1-bedroom caretaker residence. The property comes with a former stable and greenhouse, and is immersed in a large English-style park with a bamboo grove, centenary trees and rare plants.

With its charming setting in the Veneto, the villa also boast easy access to the highway, close to the airport of Thiene, an hour from the international airport at Milan, and well-connected to the cities of Venice, the Dolomites, and southward towards Bologna, Florence, and Rome.
